The
Soundkey project, being from and to the legal music sales system online, was officially launched on October 12th. As already
mentioned , “Habrahabr”, a start-up by Sony Sokolova, who created
Zvuki.Ru , is being implemented jointly with
Softkey . It is a system of distributed online showcases with music, which is sold directly by the owners themselves. That is, the author places his works in the service, assigns the price for downloading and after purchase receives a certain amount. Prices, as promised, seem democratic, at $ 0.1-0.3 per track.
Online showcases will host the sites of partners, namely, Zvuki.ru and
Rambler . At the last
, Soundkey
beta is currently being tested. It is expected that the next partner of the project will be the online store
Ozon.Ru , which is being negotiated with, reports
Delovoy Peterburg .
Placing music content in online storefronts can both individual performers and record companies - the main thing is to sign a license agreement with Soundkey. Large studios that can provide a full catalog of the service will be provided with access to the interface of partner sites, where they can handle sales. The mechanism of interaction is completely transparent to all participants in the process, which is its merit, says Sonia Sokolova.

As reported at a press conference on the opening of the service, the market for the distribution of musical products in Russia is in a state of rapid development. According to experts, today in Russia, about 18% of music sales are in the online segment. At the same time, sales in most cases are not authorized by the right holders, which causes great indignation of Western human rights organizations and leads to international problems. In particular, the closure of pirated sites has become a condition for Russia’s accession to the WTO.
Given that the music is different, Soundkey, judging by the presented range, works so far only on the domestic producer. Now there are about 3 thousand compositions in the service catalog, and by November of this year their number is planned to increase to 4 thousand.
