Google Chrome may be pre-installed on new PCs.

How did Internet Explorer become the number 1 browser in the world? Everything is very simple - it was pre-installed and ready for use on most new computers. Now, Google is thinking of doing the same with its Google Chrome brainchild. According to the product manager, Sundar Pichai, the beta testing period should be completed in January of next year and most likely the browser will be ready for distribution.

In an article in The Times, Sundar Pichai talked about the fact that Chrome should occupy a niche convenient for most users of the browser for everyday use. A major role in the implementation of this plan is played by the task of concluding transactions with computer manufacturers.

“We can work with OEM manufacturers to ship computers with a pre-installed Chrome browser,” says Pichai. Thanks to the antitrust ruling, which was partly due to IE and Netscape's “browser war” in the 90s of the last century, nothing prevents Google from entering into such deals with computer manufacturers.

According to Pichai, Chrome versions for Linux and Mac platforms should be available in the first half of next year, which will allow the browser to work on almost 99% of computers worldwide.
