Network insults cost the American $ 11 million

A resident of Florida, Sue Scheff (Sue Scheff) sued $ 11.3 million from a resident of Louisiana State Carey Bock (Carey Bock), accusing the latter of insults inflicted via the Internet. The relevant ruling issued a Florida jury in Broward County (Broward), writes USA Today .

The defendant in her e-mails called the plaintiff "fraud", "swindler" and "dishonest person." The conflict between the two women arose when Cary Boc wanted to take her children from a boarding house in Costa Rica and made this request to Sheff, head of the Parents Universal Resource Experts organization, created to help parents. The children were sent to the boarding house by the former husband of Bock, against the wishes of his wife.

Despite the fact that the consultant proposed by Sheff helped to get the twins out of a closed educational institution, the attitude of Bock to Sheff changed for the worse. The respondent posted several angry messages about Sue Sheff on Fornits.com , where parents discuss issues related to raising children.

Sheff filed a lawsuit against Boc for insulting back in 2003, but the case slowed down first because the defendant could not pay a lawyer, and then because of hurricane Katrina, which flooded her house. Sue Sheff agreed to pay the legal fees in full. According to her, she knew that the respondent would not be able to pay 11 million dollars, and the reason for going to court was the desire to show that no one can insult other people with impunity through the Internet. The respondent herself, who did not arrive due to lack of knowledge of the date for the court session, stated that the jury had heard only one side, but had not given her the words.
