ROMIR Monitoring has undertaken another study to find out exactly what Russians are buying on the web. It was attended by 2296 active Internet users aged 20 years and older. The sample represents an adult Runet audience of about 20 million people, according to ROMIR.
In the course of the work, it turned out that 95% of this audience - about 19 million people - have experience visiting online stores. At the same time, 15 million of them not only visited the site, but also bought something. 34% of respondents reported that over the past three months they have been shopping online, and this gave the right to conclude that about 7 million people also bought something online during this period.
Respondents who shop online at least once a month were asked about their preferences in choosing goods and services. It turned out that most often they buy books and stationery - over the past three months, 56% of regular customers have acquired. For household appliances, 40% of respondents came online (52% in Moscow). Computer equipment was more often bought by men (47%) than women (25%).

Other popular products include music CDs (bought by 28% of respondents in this category), software (28%), films (24%), tickets to various events (20%), and cosmetics and perfumes (20%). In addition, for the quarterly period online cards were purchased to pay for Internet access, mobile communications and telephony (14%). More - food (9%).
Answering the next question from researchers, regular online shoppers admitted that they most often visit Ozon.ru - 40% of respondents used the services of the store, the seller being the most popular in St. Petersburg (61%). Sites Bolero.ru and Ultracomp.ru gained 15% and 12% respectively. A large number of votes received an army of "other" stores, not specifically named, notes ROMIR. More than a third of shoppers made purchases in specialized, often little-known stores.
The most convenient for the client is payment in cash, namely, 74% of respondents. Only 10% of buyers pay with a credit card - everywhere except St. Petersburg, where this figure reached 19%. 8% of respondents use electronic payment systems when paying for purchases.
Finally, the respondents were asked: “How did you find out about the existence of online stores?”. It turned out that 29% of buyers “led” the search engines. 23% came by clicking on banners and links. Having listened to the recommendations of friends, 13% of respondents visited the site of the seller.
