Last Friday, the world finals of the prestigious sports programming competition
Google Code Jam 2008 took place at Google's headquarters in Mountain View (California). This year, Belarusian programmers performed best of all representatives of the post-Soviet space.
Two graduates of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of BSU took the 8th and 13th places in the individual competition, while the best of the Russians finished only in 15, 18 and 19 places.
This is despite the fact that, as a result of the
qualifying stage, as many as 20 Russians got into the final, that is, every fifth of the 100 finalists was from Russia. According to this indicator, Russia has outstripped even China (19 finalists) and the USA (15), not to mention the rest.
Two representatives from China won the contest. Suddenly, the Poles performed well (6th and 7th places). The full table with the results can be found
