8008 Microprocessor Emulation on ESP8266

On EP8266, Radio-86RK can be emulated , but before the microprocessor, the 8080 was 8008, which retrocomputers are less likely to remember today. He was also able to emulate on this platform and run the SCELBAL BASIC interpreter.

In the project, the author combined two of their previous ones. The first is an 8008 emulator on the same platform , but without a video output, and the second is an IBM PC XT emulator with a video output that was not brought to working condition (there was not enough RAM). Taking the video output implementation code from the second project, the author added it to the first one, receiving the firmware for the proposed device.

The mode of interaction through the serial port inherited from the first project is saved, a switch for two positions and two directions is provided for choosing between a port and a video output. When video output is selected, data entry occurs from the PS / 2 keyboard. The assembled construction from the author looks like this:
