How I painted a laptop. What came of it all

Absolutely - white, like absolutely - black, it seems to be some kind of visual defect. J. Orwell

Summer went slowly, there was enough free time. And I decided to paint my boring laptop. (caution !, many photos)

Actually, it is a classic acer design laptop:
zero
over time, the gray surface of almost all overwrites a bit and becomes unsightly.

Paint, primer and varnish was purchased:
time
as well as sandpaper (very fine, 400-ka)

The process of preparing for painting:
1. laptop completely disassembled. It was decided to paint everything gray, that is: the lid and top near the keyboard;
2. removed the logo from the cover;
3. surfaces intended for painting are sanded with emery paper with water (you should not be carried away, it is enough to slightly remove the original varnish and remove scratches);
4. the cleaned surfaces are washed and dried, and after degreased with white spirit;
5. primer applied

After the soil dries out (sustained for a day), the first layer of red paint is applied, one more day later. (here, too, do not get carried away layers should be uniform and thin)

with the buttons from the touchpad, the same operations were performed, only the paint is chrome.
note: it is better to paint in a room where it is not enough that you do not suffocate and do not get poisoned with paint, but there will be no dust, otherwise it will settle on the wet paint and there will be very unpleasant unevenness.

Dry another day.
Further, it was decided not to just make a red laptop and bought a special paint "marbled" in white.
"Marble" is applied on all painted surfaces, it looks like this:

After another day of drying, the touchpad frame is neatly painted with chrome:

Another day and applied the first coat of varnish. A day later, another.
then one jamb came up: the paint “chrome” after coating with varnish did not remain shiny, became dull gray. a small departure from the idea of "chrome" buttons, but what can you do :)

Drying again (4 days somewhere, for fidelity)
The remaining, unpainted parts of the notebook are polished.
Final assembly. Sticking logo. Little photo shoot

We are happy :)
That's how it was.
ps is the course of my actions, I do not claim that it is correct :)

upd:
ordinary paint, automobile from a can, “marble” too (only not automobile)
while the paint is holding steady.
