The largest light sculpture

The Colossus of Rhodes - one of the seven "original" wonders of the world, may very well again appear before the admiring Greeks. And not only the Greeks. I am sure that tourists from all over the world will catch up to see the miracle restored after the incident with the earthquake of 226 BC. But one thing: the new Colossus of Rhodes will not be made according to the canons of the ancient masters, but in the form of a light sculpture .


While the information about the grand project is not so much. It is known only that it will not be a copy of the 34-meter original. More precisely, it will generally not just be a sculpture (albeit a light one), but an architectural “ensemble” or something. At the very least, visitors will be able to go inside the "composition" and inspect it. As a result, will come a sort of historical and tourist complex. The construction of which the Rhodes government wants to please both art historians (who, incidentally, are desperately against) and “repel” the 200 million euros that are planned to be spent on the project.

Responsible for all this business is assigned to have developed a model of the Colossus (10 years ago), an artist from Germany, Gert Hof.
