Any Soviet schoolchild who assembled such a scheme knew that without grounding - no way.
The current generation of Z, nurtured by iPhones, doubts even the need for antennas!
This article shows the importance and necessity of these two elements in conditions of a weak signal.
The true method used by the true signalers will cause very ambiguous feelings (I warned), and the rest can be read.
The topic is primarily concerned with the problem of GSM-communication, and understands the example of SIM800L, used by many in their designs.
For experiments, I was forced to "pull out" the connection on mobile apiaries, but the essence does not change - the truth is in the "ground".
How does the user evaluate the quality of communication?
Usually "ohhh, I have three divisions."
We will have as many as thirty !!!
The GPRS module SIM800L allows the "AT + CSQ" command to evaluate the signal quality in "parrots".
I found a table of their correspondence to decibels:
Value RSSI dBm Condition 2 -109 Marginal 3 -107 Marginal 4 -105 Marginal 5 -103 Marginal 6 -101 Marginal 7 -99 Marginal 8 -97 Marginal 9 -95 Marginal 10 -93 OK 11 -91 OK 12 -89 OK 13 -87 OK 14 -85 OK 15 -83 Good 16 -81 Good 17 -79 Good 18 -77 Good 19 -75 Good 20 -73 Excellent 21 -71 Excellent 22 -69 Excellent 23 -67 Excellent 24 -65 Excellent 25 -63 Excellent 26 -61 Excellent 27 -59 Excellent 28 -57 Excellent 29 -55 Excellent 30 -53 Excellent
For testing, I located in the country, near the point of entry of the ground bus into the ground:
In order not to move the antenna, glued it to a piece of wooden beam.
So, turn on the modem, wait for the download, and repeat the AT + CSQ command a dozen times.
Without grounding - 10 parrots, -93 dBm, OK.
We connect to good grounding, overload the modem, repeat the command - 15 parrots, -83 dBm, Good.
And this is really the GMD, for we would get those three “sticks” on the mobile.
But if the apiary is mobile, it is unlikely that someone at each new location will organize a ground loop or drive a long pipe to the groundwater.
Why is there an apiary, for example, you got out for a weekend in nature, and the Internet is not - for the generation Z - it's a disaster, not a picnic!
I, for example, with the help of scrap and such a mother barely pulled out a 1.5m corner of fifty, hammered into a fairly soft soil - peat + sand.
Old books and a 1957 radio magazine recommend digging in a galvanized (non-rusty) bucket or metal sheet 50x100 cm deeper than a meter.
And pour this business with a bucket of water with a diluted glass of table salt.
Who will do this, say, on a picnic scale ???
Without thinking, with the help of welding, 6.5mm of wire rod made meter T-shki, soldered 1.5mm copper and sharpened:
At the same time on the photo you can evaluate my soil in the yard.
That there are forces, I pound the first rod into the ground - by 80cm. - I check the signal (after a reboot) - nothing.
The meter retreats from it - the same procedure with the second one - and again the signal is unchanged.
I make an equilateral triangle, driving a third pin into the ground (the ground is slightly wet) - nothing!
Ok, I take the hammer in my hands and drive the pins to the very crossbar - BINGO!
As many as 13 parrots! -87 dBm, OK
Of course, not 15 but already something!
Do you think our story is over? Nooo!
Let's look now at the antenna:
Remembering that the antenna gain is measured relative to a symmetrical half-wave vibrator, I refused to believe in as many as 2! WAITING CARL! DBI.
And rightly so.
By removing this Chinese miracle, I soldered 80mm monochila with a diameter of ~ 1.7mm:
Roughly, severely, but the module reacted sensitively to such "blasphemy", awarding a piece of wire to the whole parrot!
Fourteen! and it is in self-made land! -85dbm OK
The difference with 3-cm "product" from heaven - as much as 3dBm!
I want to exclaim - "Dear Chinese! Regarding what you measure ???"
Next, I switched to normal grounding, and ... broke off the copper antenna ;-)
Okay, turn on the Chinese miracle, repeat the measurement - the same 15 parrots as at the beginning of the test.
But taking the ladder and rising to 2 meters above the level of the table, it turned out already 16 parrots, -81dBm or Good.
But what about youngsters who have no decibels?
I will translate in figures - at me on 4th. the GSM-900 antenna (log-periodic) connected to a CDMA modem (EVDO rev.A) is installed to the bar - I turn off the “ground” - 700 Kbit / s, I drive a meter-high armature with a diameter of 10 mm into the hole - the same picture, I fill it with water - ~ 1.5 Megabits I connect to normal ground - 2 and above.
Then the son called me to ride bicycles, and the experiment ended there.
YES, the pins from the ground came out very tight, the cross for which pulled arched arcs.
What can be said about the results?
Having appeared on picnic without the Internet, you have two exits:
In this case, of course, you will need to sacrifice the cord from your girlfriend's curling - yes, yes, they even take such things for nature - just in case.
And you can just enjoy the nature and the company of friends!
May you have a good holiday and take care of nature!
