Hidden iPhoto options

1. Update the thumbnails in iPhoto

If your iPhoto displays thumbnails of images that do not correspond to full-size originals, hold down the Cmd + Opt keys when launching iPhoto. In the “Rebuilding Photo Library” window that appears, you will find options to re-create small thumbnails, re-create all thumbnails, repair the iPhoto database, and find “orphaned” photos in iPhoto folders. To regenerate small thumbnails, select the first option - Rebuild The Photos' Small Thumbnails - and the icons of the images will correspond to the real images.

2. Create new libraries

Hold down the Opt key when you launch iPhoto, and you will be given the choice of creating a new library or loading an existing one. This is very convenient if you do not have enough space to store one iPhoto library in one place. The same technique can be used for libraries of iTunes 7.
