We drove, drove and finally arrived. As
promised , yesterday the USB 3.0 working group Promoter Group announced the completion of work on the specification of a new high-speed USB 3.0 interface and the transfer of specifications to the USB Implementers Forum organization (USB-IF).
The new interface is a new step in the evolution of USB, and is now called SuperSpeed USB. USB 3.0 data transfer rate reaches 4.8 Gbps per second, which is 10 times more than USB 2.0. Compatibility with older devices, which is important for many users, is present.
Developers, including Intel, HP, NEC, Microsoft, and Texas Instruments, are counting on SuperSpeed USB controllers to go on sale in the first half of 2009. And we will most likely see the products that will use the new interface already in 2010.
