Nikola Motor introduced two electric trucks and something else.

More and more companies are engaged in the development and production of electric vehicles. Tesla Inc has new competitors. One of them - the company Nikola Motor, which was already written on Habré. Recently, this company introduced several vehicles that run on electricity and hydrogen fuel cells.

It is worth noting that the new items shown were tested in field conditions, not only on the roads, but also on the sands of one of the deserts of Arizona. A total of five different vehicles were presented: electric trucks Nikola Two and Nikola Tre (for the European market), as well as two quad bikes (one of which is for military use) and one scooter.

As for trucks, the model Nikola One (presented earlier) will be sold next year. The power reserve of such a vehicle is 1930 km (there is no typo here). Autonomy is provided by a combination of electric motor, batteries and a system of fuel hydrogen cells.



Nikola Two (new) is an electric truck model adapted for commercial use. It can work both from ordinary batteries and from fuel hydrogen cells. This model will be available no earlier than 2022, the same applies to the European version.

The main problem for "hydrogen" electric vehicles - the need to refuel. The company promises to build 700 hydrogen gas stations in the US (it’s not clear how much in Europe). They will be located in such a way that the owners of electric vehicles from Nikola did not have problems moving to any point of the country.

As for the power reserve of electric trucks with batteries and without fuel cells, nothing is said about their power reserve. They are positioned as a freight transport for companies wishing not to harm the environment.

Among other things, Nikola electric cars will be equipped with an autopilot (it says 4-5 degrees of autonomy, but this is clearly not very likely if we are talking about 2022).

As for ATVs, their power reserve is about 270 km, which is quite good. Production of vehicles begins this year, and they will start selling from 2021, a year before entering the market for the Nikola Two truck.





The military version of the quad is not as noisy as quadrocycles with internal combustion engines, so it can be used in a variety of situations.



Plus, this vehicle can operate in a completely autonomous mode. In addition, it is protected from water and can be completely immersed in water (not to swim, but to hide for a certain moment under the surface, for example, at a crossing).





And another option is a water scooter that does not smoke or make noise. Such a vehicle is great for both leisure and work purposes. They will start selling in 2021. The head of the company said that the scooter is also not afraid of water (which would be strange). And its 12-inch display will easily survive the immersion in the aquatic environment.



Nikola collaborates with Bosch, which develops some important vehicle components. Partners hope that they will be able to popularize hydrogen fuel cells as an energy source for vehicles of various kinds.
