Music on Cosmonautics Day

Traditionally, on April 12, I post in the social. networks song "Fire in the Sky", one of my favorite on a space theme and perfectly suited to the celebration of Cosmonautics Day. But this is not the only great composition on a space theme. Music can change our state, make us happy, sad or plunge into thoughtfulness. I propose to celebrate this Cosmonautics Day with a journey into the space “semi-abstract world insensitively constructed by generations of composers” (Strugatsky brothers).

Kristoph klover

Two thematic videos that I traditionally publish are Kristoph Klover, To Touch The Stars 2004 compilation.

“Fire in the Sky” not only tells the shortest history of astronautics, but also paints a global picture from the historical aspiration to space to the need to move up today and tomorrow.
')

But this song goes great on October 4th. The world was dull, hopeless, and then with its companion of the USSR vigorously kicked humanity into the future.

And here is the whole album , other tracks are also interesting.

Carbon Based Lifeforms

For the first time I heard the compositions of this Swedish duo, I fell in love with the ambient genre as such. And a lot of their tracks are devoted to space. Personally, I like Comsat most of all, judging by the audible talks, this is the golden era of shuttles, the 80s, when they were still launching telecommunications satellites.

And in the Central Plains there are not formally direct references to space, but personally this composition gives me a completely clear picture of the summer starry night outside the city.

And absolutely amazing track Abiogenesis, in which the girl reads the Drake equation, which allows you to calculate the estimated number of civilizations in the galaxy.

Astronaut ape

Astronaut Ape (Oleg Belousov) has an album A Little Closer To The Stars with the track He Was The First about Gagarin's flight, another one must hear on April 12th.

In the same place there is a composition about the first satellite and modern astronautics with negotiations at the docking of the “Union”.

Omnipresent "Apollos"

A lot of cosmic music tracks use the same negotiation samples from the Apollo program - the start of the eleventh and its landing on the moon, as well as the accident of the thirteenth. They are so common that sometimes they even get bored. But there are beautiful instances that I want to share.

Exxassens has an abstract Apollo picture in Spiders on the Moon.

And Synth.nl has a whole Apollo album telling both the story and the course of the Apollo missions. Personally, the track Reentry, which tells about the deceleration of a ship in the atmosphere of the Earth, is the most “catchy” of me (there are video shots from “Gemini” on the video, but this is not terrible).

And if the phrase about the first step of a person and the leap for humanity is known to everyone, then here are longer quotes a rarity. Z-Arc made music for quite a long process of reaching the lunar surface.

Abstract paintings

It seems to be not designated directly as space, the composition of Serenity from Brian El clearly gives me pictures of orbital maneuvers. The truss structures are revealed, the reactor is turned on, electrojet engines light up with a non-amber glow, and the giant ship is sent to another star system.

But in the Fall From the Stars from God is an Astronaut a space ship definitely sits down. Before the mind's eye sweeps the order of the landing of the Union - the separation of compartments, controlled descent, entering the main parachute, and even the operation of the soft landing engines, reflected in the sudden finale.

For astronomical observations

How does the starry night sound? Probably, as Andrei Klimkovsky portrayed it in the album “The Music of the Heavenly Spheres”. Seriously, I turned it on several times, uncovering a telescope in the evening.

But an alternative look from Suduaya. Indeed, the snow, the stars and the rotation of the sky.

Quite classic

Long before the advent of electronic music, at the beginning of the 20th century, Gustav Holst wrote the symphonic suite Planets.

And, of course, thanks to Solaris, the prelude in F minor of Bach now has clear cosmic associations. Electronically edited by Eduard Artemyev, it has the name "Listening to Bach (Earth)"

Unfading

Some compositions have already become real classics, known, probably, to everyone.

14 minutes before the start, it is "on the dusty paths of distant planets."

Final Countdown from Europe.

But this hymn from “Moscow-Cassiopeia” is a beautiful call to be better.

David Bowie - Space Oddity.

And traditionally escorting cosmonauts on the Soyuz “Grass at Home”, which in 2009 became the official anthem of the Russian cosmonautics.

Recently I heard a completely fantastic cover of her and “Nothing Else Matters” performed by Rock Privet. Mixing two songs gave rise to a surprisingly lyrical result.

Always with you

Above - only the most favorite or important space songs. Because if you do not stop, then this publication will grow to hundreds, if not thousands of videos for a few days of listening. And there is an option to do the same with just a few paragraphs - to give a link to Internet radio. Personally, I have been listening to Soma.fm for several years, where you can find themed stations.

For compositions with samples of space talks there is a special channel Control Control .

Shared channel with electronics and ambient - Space Station Soma .

A slower option is Deep Space One .

Very slow and abstract - Drone Zone .

Conclusion

Once again, here is only the most beloved by me or, subjectively, the most significant cosmic music. Add your favorite space compositions in the comments, have a party on Cosmonautics Day!

Happy Cosmonautics Day!
