Yesterday, April 10, in the Moscow office of Yandex, the first laureates
of the Ilya Segalovich Award , created this year to support young researchers and the scientific community of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, were awarded. In the three months since the launch of the award, 262 applications came from young professionals and academic leaders who could be nominated by their students and graduate students. The Award Council selected nine top young researchers and four scientific leaders. The youngest laureate is only twenty one.
Students and postgraduates who have become laureates will receive 350 thousand rubles each and the opportunity to attend an international conference on artificial intelligence, a personal mentor and an internship in the Yandex Research Department, managers won 700 thousand rubles each.
Young scientists who have received an award for their contribution to computer science:
')
Edward Gorbunov, graduate student of MIPT
Conducts research in the field of machine learning, deals with optimization problems. He published the results of his research on NeurIPS (Neural Information Processing Systems). Supervisor - Alexander Gasnikov.
Valentin Khrulkov, Skoltech graduate student
He works in the field of machine learning and is engaged in research in the field of evaluation of generative models and theoretical analysis of recurrent neural network models. His work has been published on ICML and ICLR. Supervisor - Ivan Oseledets. Interestingly, Valentin learned from Lena Bunina at school.
Marina Munkhoeva, graduate student Skoltech
Marina conducts research in the field of natural language processing and machine learning, and also deals with nuclear methods and graphs, and her master's work was devoted to translation into low corpus languages. One of her articles is published on NeurIPS. Supervisor - Ivan Oseledets
Anastasia Popova, a student at the Yandex and HSE School of Data Analysis in Nizhny Novgorod
Anastasia conducts research in the field of natural language processing and machine learning, is engaged in the classification of emotions in speech, using for this purpose the approaches adopted for image analysis. Also in the field of its interests - various approaches to the compression of neural networks. Supervisor - Alexander Ponomarenko.
Alexander Korotin, graduate student Skoltech and ShAD graduate
Works in the field of machine learning, is engaged in research on the use of neural networks in online machine learning and time series analysis. Supervisor - Evgeny Burnaev.
Andrey Atanov, HSE and Skoltech undergraduates
Conducts research in the field of machine learning, deals with Bayesian methods and deep neural networks. He published two works on the ICLR, which could not leave the members of the Prize Council indifferent. Supervisor - Dmitry Vetrov.
Alexandra Malysheva, graduate student at the Higher School of Economics
Conducts research in the field of machine learning. Engaged in RL, and even organized a riding group on it in St. Petersburg. Engaged in tracking objects in the video. Supervisor - Alexey Shpilman from JetBrains Research.
Pavel Goncharov, graduate student Gomel State Technical University. P. O. Sukhoi
Conducts research in the field of machine learning and computer vision. Currently, Pavel is engaged in the recognition of plant diseases from images, is fascinated by the use of ML in physics, understands DL and is engaged in the reconstruction of the trajectory of elementary particles. Supervisor - Gennady Ososkov.
Arip Asadulaev, ITMO graduate student
Conducts research in the field of machine learning. Engaged in memory networks and RL. This year she plans to publish her results on NeurIPS and ICML, which is a very good result for a first year undergraduate student. Supervisor - Evgeny Burnaev.
