The first day of
EduCamp'2008 has passed - an educational conference on the Internet and new media dedicated to education and web 2.0.

Half of us and I were late, so we missed the opening. But the registration of participants was still working and we successfully received badges and a program (by the way, it pleased, since we registered last night - 10 hours before the start of the event). In general, everything was organized at the level, albeit at a low budget. However, participation was free - so there is nothing to complain about.
There were quite a few spectators in the hall - about 200-300 people; a young man (I don't know the name) near the screen explained to the audience what web 2.0 is: “This is such a new-minded term. Maybe not quite new, but very fashionable! ”Is a great start. As a result, the whole day was more of a general educational nature: 2 words about social networks, 3 words about startups, “blogs are great”, “you can make money on banners and services” and so on. And all this - in the format of half-hour reports in parallel in three classrooms.
Now more. The first report we decided to visit was “How startups are made” by Sergey Danilenko from
HighVay . In short: Drupal taxis, a little about domains, monetization, target audience, promotion - everything is very clear. From the interesting - the idea of the button “stir up” to remind colleagues like “hello, you haven’t written anything for a long time”; contextual advertising rules, banner ineffective (not new, but repetition - the mother of learning).

Next -
Håkon Wium Lie from Opera - the report of the honorable Norwegian guest, which, unfortunately, began simultaneously with the “start-ups”. In the beginning, I thought what new could tell Opera, but, having reached the audience, I regretted that we did not go here from the very beginning. He talked about standard fonts (“They were developed in the 90s, there are about ten of them, and I think this is the best thing Microsoft has done in all this time :-). And we are happy to use them! ”) And the need to use non-standard on the web. Invited to beer and told how he and a friend wrote a book in HTML + CSS; praised the video, animating dry web pages and lots and lots of things I missed. It's a pity. I feel, now I will go to the Opera workshop at the
KPI .

Then a brief report on PR on the Internet and one more lecture on the promotion of a personal brand is in the same vein as the report on startups.
')
Summarizing the first day (and the second is unlikely to please something fundamentally original), I can say that in general, nothing new. So, some interesting remarks, to streamline thoughts, to look at problems a bit from the other side - probably, similar events are held for this purpose.
And only
Opera brightly flashed and went out. We will wait for the next meeting.
