Yandex will improve voice recognition algorithms

A spokesman for Yandex, Vasily Ivashkin, said that in support of the Yandex.Taxi service, complaints about the quality of speech recognition had become frequent.

Both drivers and passengers complain that speech with an accent is very poorly recognized. Often there are misunderstandings when trying to dial a destination by voice. It is necessary to type addresses from the on-screen keyboard, or to ask the passenger to dictate the destination.

Among all complaints, complaints from people who do not pronounce the sounds of "p" and "l" are singled out separately. Among users of the Yandex application there are from 10 to 20 percent. Taxi traffic analysis showed an unusually high rate of movement between Malino and Marino. For a long time, Yandex specialists could not explain the reason for this phenomenon, but now, apparently, everything became clear.

As a matter of urgency, Yandex is recruiting a development team from the republics of the North Caucasus and Central Asia. A special advantage to the existing skills will be the availability of burry and other diction defects of the applicant.
