American Airlines has offered its customers a new service: now they send air tickets in digital form directly to their mobile phone. Moreover, the bar code is sent in a large graphic file, so that it can be scanned directly from the screen. It turns out that absolutely no paperwork is needed to check in for the flight: spend your mobile phone near the scanner - and get on the plane.
True, so far new scanners have been installed only at Chicago airport, but in a couple of days they will appear in Los Angeles, and then at other airports. By the way, such systems are going to launch other major US airlines. For example, Delta Airlines is testing a similar scanner at New York airport.
It remains only to wait that such technologies will reach us, and not only to the airports, but they will appear in trains, in the metro, city buses, etc. You can get rid of a lot of papers, tickets, coupons, cards and other small outdated artifacts.
