A small newspaper from New Jersey tells of a
funny incident that occurred in Middlesex with one of the local residents who worked as a sysadmin at the financial company Third Avenue Management in Manhattan. This company five years ago had the misfortune to hire an immigrant from Belarus.
According to the newspaper, 29-year-old Viktor Savtyrev (Viktor Savtyrev) after his dismissal wanted to get a higher severance pay, better health insurance and good recommendations for finding a new job. Unable to convince former bosses peacefully, he sent a threatening letter that his hacker friends from Belarus could easily destroy the corporate network. He did this in vain, because the FBI immediately got involved in the matter and the story ended sadly for the Belarusian.
Since the email is not sufficient evidence, the FBI organized a telephone conversation with Victor, in which he repeated his threats. The conversation was recorded, after which the operation was immediately carried out to arrest the hapless sysadmin.
Vitya was arrested in his apartment in the town of Old Bridge and a few days ago appeared before a state district court. He appeared in court in frayed jeans and a green t-shirt, and the main line of defense of a lawyer is the argument that the Belarusian is obviously incapable of putting his threats to life. Now the trial continues. Savtyrev faces up to 10 years and a fine of up to $ 500,000.
