RE: About browsers and marginals

In the blog " Mad Books " I published a note " Alternative browsers - the lot of the marginals ?! ”, In which he showed how important basic IT training for ordinary users is for the progress in IT and criticized the book“ Tutorial. Mastering the Internet .

The author of the book - Vitaliy tantrist Leontyev replied in this comment and his LJ .

In this post I tried not only to answer V. Leontyev, but also to show why IE 6 is a deliberate sabotage of Microsoft against the IT industry , and also to show once again the critical importance of books “for ordinary users” for IT progress.
')
Show that we, in pursuit of technology, do not always understand: the main condition for progress: strengthening the weak link (in which the chain of IT development breaks) - basic user training ! The book of V. Leontiev is just a vivid example and just a reason to remind about it.

Microsoft is not so bad

I must say: I am very respectful towards the Microsoft company and its products. The times of Windows Me are long gone, and now Windows Server 2003 is indeed one of the reliable server operating systems; MS SQL Server is one of the most powerful commercial DBMSs, and C # is one of the best non-dynamic programming languages.

I am a supporter of open source, and I have a lot of complaints about Microsoft (see, for example, a draft of my article “The Decline of the Web?”, Which I am about to publish in Habré soon). But they mainly concern the marketing policy and the closure of the corporation, and not the functionality or quality of Microsoft products. Therefore, I agree with your definition of "marginal" for those who argue that no Microsoft products can be used under any circumstances, just because it is Microsoft.

... but you cannot use Internet Explorer 6

BUT! This does not apply to Internet Explorer 6 — the Corporation’s worst offspring. And it really can be used with only one purpose - to download one of the normal browsers.

There are three main objective reasons why it is such (every “trifle”, such as an uncomfortable interface and the absence of tabs, I do not mention, because it is too subjective).
