Nvidia today released its first professional video card in its line, equipped with 4 GB of RAM at once. New Quadro FX 5800 is designed for professionals working in the field of 3D-graphics, architects, game designers and video graphics. Nvidia claims that the new Quadro FX 5800 is the most powerful graphics card in the world.
“ The size and complexity of the data being processed is growing at an exponential scale. For a modern professional, managing such scales is a real challenge. The new Quadro FX 5800 is designed to solve such problems ,” said Jeff Brown, general manager of the Nvidia professional solutions line.

Inside the Quadro FX 5800 is a hardware that fully supports CUDA video modeling technology, offering processing up to 240 parallel data streams and for the first time in history having 4 gigabytes of RAM for working only with graphics. As described in Nvidia, the new map has a peak fill rate of more than 52 billion texels per second and a geometric performance of 300 billion graphic triangles per second. In order to work at such speeds, the card is equipped with a memory with a peak bandwidth of 102 GB per second.

From a programmatic point of view, Quadro FX 5800 supports OpenGL and Microsoft DirectX 10 applications, while professionals are offered support for the advanced Quadro G-Sync II visualization system. The Quadro FX 5800 CPU supports, not 8, as usual, but 10-bit color, which allows you to work with several billions of colors and shades.


For NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800, Landmark's GeoProbe R5000 software, which will allow researchers to visualize objects in high resolution on a typical Linux-based workstation, is already ready.
