The company Arbor Networks, specializing in network security of large providers and enterprises, conducted a survey among system administrators Tier 1 / Tier 2 operators . About 70 experts interviewed answered questions about the most current threats to the Internet.

The survey showed that the most dangerous are DDoS attacks. If in 2000 the volume of attacks was measured in megabits per second, then this year attacks of 40 Gbit / s were recorded. And although almost all major providers have the means to detect them, only a part of the respondents stated that they can suppress the attack within 10 minutes.

In addition, security experts see threats in DNS cache poisoning , BGP hijacking, and spam. Curiously, most respondents believe that the release of details on DNS vulnerability this year has done more harm than good.
