Original password recovery on wikimapia.org

About two weeks ago, I decided to log in to wikimapia.org from under my account, which I hadn’t done for three or four months.

And sadly, I forgot the password. "Well, never mind ...", I thought, and in the menu I chose Password Recovery.

To my chagrin, the password to the mail did not come and the desire to visit the site at that time completely disappeared.

A few weeks later (that is, today), hoping that the bug was already fixed, I decided to try my luck again and recover the password. Again, as one would expect, to no avail.

At the same time I tried several options that came to mind, none of them came up and I decided not to make a new account, namely, to restore the old one.

To this end, I dashed a support letter to read as follows:

Hi there! :)

I don’t know
My nickname there is: smileart
E-mail: smileart@*.ru (as you see)

Please fix this trouble.

Imagine my surprise and shock when I was answered approximately like this:

Alexandre Koriakine

Hello, you pas: passwordblabla here was my password
Good luck!

Apparently the creators of Wikimapia did not hear about the hashes and privacy of personal information. It’s good that the password turned out to be really unique (that’s why I forgot it) and was used only on their website, it wouldn’t be necessary to change the password on a bunch of other projects ...

I do not know how you think, dear readers, but as for me, nowadays, this is simply unacceptable on the part of the project owners!
