Google launched "rewards for viewing ads" in applications

Google announced a new feature that developers can add to their applications, "rewards for viewing ads." The idea is to encourage users to watch more ads, encouraging them with virtual goods and in-game currency. A large number of applications already have similar functionality, but Google's implementation will make it easier for all developers to add.

Initially, the “rewards” are launched as an open beta in the Google Play console, and while the ads are played only in video format. Google did not specify whether other types of ads would be included in the future, but it seems that Google can extend this to other types of ads, such as interactive ads.

Demo Rewards have been designed to easily add them to applications. According to Google, this feature can be added to any application using the Google Play billing library or the AIDL interface by adding a few more API calls. It also says that you no longer need to configure the SDK, which should reduce the workload associated with adding it.

Google will provide advertising through its AdMob technology, which provides “a wide range” of advertising from different partners. Interestingly, a Google ad appeared around the same time that Microsoft added to its developer agreement, which allows developers to save 95% of revenue. Despite fierce competition from Microsoft, Google is unlikely to have many reasons to be concerned about the reach of its platform.
