The State Duma adopted bills on fakes and disrespect for the authorities in the second reading
Today, State Duma deputies supported in the second reading bills on punishment for distributing fake news and manifestation of disrespect for government bodies, state symbols, society and the state in Internet publications.
For the second reading, the deputies prepared amendments to the aforementioned bills, as reported by RBC. In particular, network media are given the opportunity to independently remove false information in order to avoid blocking. In addition, traditional media was taken out of the project - registered media with a corresponding license or certificate.
It was decided to introduce fines for the distribution of fakes, which created a threat to harm the life or health of citizens, in the event that the actions do not contain a criminal punishment. The amount of fines for citizens is from 30 thousand to 100 thousand rubles, for officials - from 60 thousand to 200 thousand rubles, for legal entities - from 200 thousand to 500 thousand rubles.
Fines will be used in order to “establish an economic barrier” for those who decide to distribute fake news. “Barriers must be fined so that a person, official or legal entity thinks a thousand times whether or not to do it,” said Pavel Krasheninnikov, chairman of the State Duma’s constitutional committee.

Also amended the bill of contempt for the government. Deputies demanded that Roskomnadzor notify the resource within a day before blocking. Clarified the point that information, access to which will be limited, should not only show obvious disrespect, but also "offend human dignity and public morality."
