This Sunday, the Mail.ru Group office hosted the
Lua in Moscow 2019 conference. The guest star was Roberto of Jerusalem, one of the creators of the Lua language, a leading architect and author of educational materials. Under his strict guidance, the language has been developing since the distant 1993, so Roberto can be called one of the pillars of the Lua community. He has already spoken with us three times:
Lua Workshop 2014 ,
Mitap in Mail.ru 2016 ,
Lua in Moscow 2017 .
And this year, Roberto did not fly home immediately after the conference, but will come to visit us on March 6 at the invitation of the
Tarantool team. We want to ask Roberto questions that concern us and invite us to join us “virtually”. Write in the comments what you would like to ask the patriarch about the current state of Lua and about the prospects for the development of the language. We will include the most interesting questions in the interview.
')
And to avoid duplication, under the cut you will find a list of questions that we have prepared from ourselves.
- If you could create a Lua language from scratch, what three things would you do differently?
- What are some interesting features in the plans for the development of Lua?
- What do you think about singularity?
- Why is there no
catch...finally
in Lua catch...finally
? And why not continue
? - You are using
vim
as your favorite Lua code editor. Why? What plugins for vim
do you like? - In graphical interfaces, do you like the light or dark theme more? :)
