Habr has long been encouraging active authors in the framework of the
PPA (Program to Encourage Authors). However, far from everyone can participate in it - first you need to “accumulate” a certain experience. And not everyone has enough patience to go this distance.

While raking the backlog of the hoteles, we paid attention to the user reward function (donate), within which the users themselves could reward the author (anyone). The survey
showed that this function will indeed be in demand, so we decided to implement it.
First of all, we want to thank you for the feedback that you provided to us in a publication with a survey about donations. We were interested in possible pitfalls of various options for the implementation of Donat - and you told us everything. Thank!
')
We decided to follow the path of least resistance and at the moment donates work as follows:
- The author indicates in the profile settings his details in payment systems:
- At the end of each publication posted by the author appears the button "Send money":
- Pressing the button will open a popup in which links to the wallets indicated by the author in claim 1 will be inserted. These will be links to payment system pages, where you can make regular money transfers.
- The reader chooses a payment system convenient for him and goes through a standard transfer procedure specifying the desired amount of remuneration.
- ???
- PROFIT
This approach allows you to organize donations directly through payment services, without any hidden fees and without tax fuss for us. The “Send Money” button will be at the end of each publication of the author, even if we are talking about authors from corporate blogs (unlike PPA, where corporate publications are not counted).
While we support only three payment systems:
- I ndeks.Money - just need a wallet number in the system
- WebMoney - you need to specify the WMID number (and not a specific wallet)
- PayPal - you need to specify a login in the PayPal.me system
The function of the donate can be tested directly in this publication, for which I have indicated the necessary details. Just transfer any amount to check how things look in practice and don’t be shy about donating in the future. All funds raised will be sent to charity.
PS We already had a chance to hear the discussion in the spirit of “Why pay, if Habr is all so free?”. Everyone has the answer to this question. But our line of thought is approximately the same: often we pay huge money for a conference, where one or two reports can be useful; we buy books and training manuals, videos with short professional lessons. And everywhere the price is initially set. And in the case of Donat, you can thank the author for the specific benefits he brought to you. So that you are not at a loss, and he is pleased, and most importantly, motivates to share knowledge even more.
