The
TsNIITOCHMASH enterprise (Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering, part of Rostec) has prepared for release a
Knut simulator for individual rifle training, intended both for beginners and experienced shooters.
According to the press service of the enterprise, electronic targets for 1351 (“Knut” - the working name of the simulator) are created taking into account the experience of popular shooters like Counter Strike in order to “be maximally adapted to modern draftees, many of whom have rich gaming experience”.
"Knut" allows you to learn how to shoot at a range from 100 to 700 meters from an AK-74 (AK of the 100th series), a SVD sniper rifle with a PSO-1 sight, RPK-74 machine guns (the RPK 200th series), PKM ("Pechenig ") And RPG-7V1 grenade launchers with a PGO-7V3, RPG-26, GP-25 (GP-30) sight. In this case, the techniques and rules of practical shooting on the simulator are similar to the techniques and rules of shooting from military weapons.

The initial training course is designed for 10-12 lessons lasting 15 minutes per day. "Shooting" is conducted from the prone position, from the knee, standing on fixed and moving targets. At the same time, the training is fully adapted to the requirements of the course in small arms fire in the Russian Armed Forces.
The return in the modernized simulator is carried out by magnetic drives and using the original lever system, which provides the required amount of weapon removal when shooting on the simulator, which fully corresponds to the shooting of military weapons. In addition, engineers TSNIITOCHMASH improved software and target environment, said in a press release.
Another option is the ability to use standard weapons, for which the necessary sensors are supplied with the simulator.
Due to the use of new materials and standard solutions, the cost of a new simulator is reduced 6 times compared with the previous model, the company reports.
