Ashmanov: Google will stop growing in runet
The share of Google search engine in runet has reached its ceiling, and it can grow only thanks to serious marketing investments. This opinion was expressed by Igor Ashmanov, head of the company "Ashmanov and Partners", at a press breakfast last Thursday. He believes that Google has already attracted the entire audience that he could. Namely - people who are close to his "technological" image, and fundamental "Westerners". At the same time, “the things that the company does do not cling to the mass user,” adds Ashmanov.
Igor's forecast for 2009 for Yandex, on the contrary, is optimistic. To him, he prophesies, though slow, but the growth is due to the share of Rambler, which will give it at a catastrophic pace. The company finally overcame the “growth crisis” (one and a half years until mid-2007), recruited the staff and dramatically improved the quality of the services.
The audience of Yandex, according to Ashmanov, is just “ordinary people, office plankton”. For them, only the habit of the services of a domestic company plays a huge role.
Recalling that the search from Google Rambler won “purely marketing” (promoting its search as more high-tech with the same real quality of work), Ashmanov concludes that quality is only a necessary condition for search engine success, while marketing is sufficient.

It steadily improves its performance across all A & P analyzers: the quality indices of navigation, thematic and information search are growing, while the number of pornography and spam is constantly falling. Ashmanov explains this by the fact that Mikhail Kostin, a former developer of the Aport.ru engine, is working on Gogo.ru, and he does not tire of praising his past achievements.
But, despite the fact that Gogo.ru is the brainchild of Mail.ru, on its main portal next year, there will be a search from Yandex, Igor is sure.
