Habrarating 2018: the best materials for 2018
Hi Habr.
This post is a logical conclusion of publications about the life cycle of an article on Habré ( first and second parts), as a result of which a rather interesting tool was made for statistical analysis. The technique turned out to be very useful, and allows you to find articles on various parameters, for example, articles with the highest "quality" (ratio of rating to views), the most "controversial" articles that have the most polar comments, the most commented materials, etc.
It’s time to extract some benefit from this and compile a statistical rating of articles for 2018. Ideally, it would be good to do it by the beginning of the New Year, but clever thoughts happen, come with a delay. But better late than never, it will allow to re-read some useful articles to those who missed them in due time. And a small “secret bonus” at the end of the text for those who are curious enough.

As in the previous section , we use Python and the BeautifulSoap library to gather information about the article. With its help we will receive information about the time of publication and the title of the article. All other data have already been received from us, anyone can refer to the previous part.

Further, as they say, the matter of technology. Fortunately for us, all the articles on Habré are numbered through, so by typing it was easy to find the right date range (by the way, those who want to do “digital archeology” can read the articles with the numbers https://habr.com/ru/post/1 / and https://habr.com/ru/post/2/ , published already in 2006). Then it remains only to run our parser in a loop, and leave it for the night (in order not to load the server, a pause was added between requests, so the process was not very fast).
There was a doubt about corporate blogs, but as it turned out, they have the same numbering, just when you open the link, a redirect occurs. So all the data was loaded completely, nothing was lost.
For the entire sample, we will make different requests, and see what happened. The technology and source code were described in the second part , those who wish can learn the technique in more detail.
So let's get started. Links will continue to be published without additional comments. Of course, some articles may fall into several categories at once, since for example, scored a large number and views and comments. Some articles could also be missed by the parser, for example, if at that moment the server returned timeout - absolute certainty is not guaranteed, yet this “rating” is unofficial.

This post is a logical conclusion of publications about the life cycle of an article on Habré ( first and second parts), as a result of which a rather interesting tool was made for statistical analysis. The technique turned out to be very useful, and allows you to find articles on various parameters, for example, articles with the highest "quality" (ratio of rating to views), the most "controversial" articles that have the most polar comments, the most commented materials, etc.
It’s time to extract some benefit from this and compile a statistical rating of articles for 2018. Ideally, it would be good to do it by the beginning of the New Year, but clever thoughts happen, come with a delay. But better late than never, it will allow to re-read some useful articles to those who missed them in due time. And a small “secret bonus” at the end of the text for those who are curious enough.
