The K Department of the Interior Ministry closed an online store that sold home-made listening devices — they were built into various household appliances. The store owner can get three years in prison for this kind of trade, the newspaper Vedomosti reports.
"Bugs" were placed, for example, in kettles and coffee makers. And an employee of the "K", making a "test purchase", acquired a "bug" -tree. The device was purchased for 10,000 rubles, and this indicates that the sale of camouflaged "spies" is a fairly profitable enterprise. In the last month, according to the press service of the “K” management, the store has sold at least ten such devices at prices ranging from $ 100 to $ 400.
In the artisanal production of "bugs" were used simple SIM-cards from mobile phones. To start listening, it was necessary to call the number assigned to the card.

However, as is known from art. 138 of part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the manufacture and sale of technical equipment that can be used for secretly obtaining information is prohibited and punishable. In this regard, the inventor and seller of the above devices face three years in prison. His identity and address of the closed site by the “K” department are not disclosed.
But when you go to a search engine, it's easy to see that many are putting themselves at risk of criminal liability. According to Yuri Dobronravov, partner of the Dobronravov and Partners law firm, the owners of these resources are potential defendants in criminal cases, although it remains to be proved that the devices they sell can actually be used to eavesdrop on and record private conversations.
There are certified means for recording conversations on the market, the expert added. But such devices must meet certain requirements of the Ministry of Communications. In particular, when recording telephone conversations, an audible signal should be heard on the line or a voice warning that a wiretap is being conducted.
The use of equipment that does not meet the established requirements is allowed only to the special services and private security companies.
