The company
OpenMoko , which shows its presence in the mobile device market for the past two years, but in the domestic open spaces few have heard of it, announced its plans to release an Android-compatible smartphone no more than this month.
According to
AndroidGuys, the phone in question appears under the name “GTA02”, and looks similar to the Neo FreeRunner shown in the photo. Expected specifications: 2.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 640x480, Wi-Fi, accelerometer, 400-500 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM, 256 MB of built-in NAND flash memory, A-GPS and a "laser pointer" (either a stylus, either really some hybrid of stylus and pointer).
')
There are several interesting things at once, firstly: many people who want to buy an Android smartphone categorically do not like the appearance of the T-Mobile G1 device and its form factor; It is quite possible that the new device from OpenMoko will satisfy their needs and expectations. Secondly, I think it will be very interesting to watch the start of the “hybrid” project: the manufacturer of Open Source iron, together with the manufacturer of Open Source software, are entering the mobile phone market together.
