Six Apart buys Rojo

The details of the transaction were not disclosed, but according to experts, the total amount of the transaction can be up to $ 5 million. Six Apart has no plans to refuse Rojo minor products, the company representatives said that the purpose of the purchase was an online RSS aggregator. Rojo founder Chris Eldon and CTO Aaron Emig will join the Six Apart board of directors.

This deal is the last chapter in the long story of Rojo. Rojo was founded in June 2003, the first services were launched in October 2004. For all the time of its existence, Rojo has produced excellent products and had loyal users to services. Over the past year, the number of Rojo users continued to grow, but Bloglines, Newsgator, etc. continue to dominate the RSS Aggregator market.

This Six Apart purchase allows you to judge possible future services. Most likely the Rojo news aggregator will be used in Six Apart projects such as LiveJournal, TypePad or Vox.
