IBM sued one of its employees for trying to go to Apple.

The company said that Mark Papermaster had a manager position in the blade server business division and signed an agreement with IBM, which prohibits him from working in competing companies for one year after being fired from IBM.

The company also stated that Mr. Papermaster was one of 300 managers with access to a broad list of intellectual property and know-how.
“Mr. Papermaster hired by Apple violated his agreement with IBM prohibiting working for a competitor after being fired from IBM,” said Fred McNees, head of public relations. "We will certainly take the case to court." The lawsuit was filed in New York.

Prior to leaving the company last week, Mr. Papermaster was the deputy head of the unit that sells computers to corporate data centers (IBM's Blade Development unit). In the past, he also led the creation of a number of know-how for the company, and played a major role in the creation of microprocessors Power.

Apple also has a small business selling servers to help work with enterprise applications. But most likely Apple has become interested in Mr. Papermaster as an expert in the creation of processors. Earlier this year, Apple acquired PA Semi, a small company that develops microprocessors based on the Power technology. At the same time, Steve Jobs, the head of Apple, said that Apple wanted to use this experience to create hardware for the iPhone and iPod.

Apple declined to comment on the lawsuit filed against Mr. Papermaster.
