In March 2006, the non-profit organization
Ru-Center , which distributes address space on the Internet, announced its intention to provide hosting services. And the goals are realized, judging by the latest report of the company.
“Hosting is not a product, but a service,” says
Ru-Center and
publishes tariffs for its hosting. According to the company, these rates were calculated in such a way that the user could choose the right conditions - without limiting the possibilities of his site, but not overpaying for extra features. “In my opinion, fairly simple hosting is offered at average market prices,” says Andrey Kondakov, Business Development Director of
Zenon N.S.P. “Perhaps the prices are slightly below average.”
Ru-Center gives recommendations: “A static site with a small attendance can be placed at the initial rate. A dynamic site, albeit with a small attendance, will require a higher rate. The most senior fare is designed for sites with high traffic. It is also suitable for online projects (stores) that require, for example, payment with a plastic card. ”

Industry representatives see
Ru-Center hosting initiatives as completely natural. “Based on the experience of our foreign colleagues, you can see that it’s quite normal when a large hoster receives the status of an official domain name registrar (as our company did several years ago),” said Andrey Tsumanov, marketing director of the telecommunications company
Karavan . “The reverse is also normal — when a large registrar starts offering hosting services.”
Andrei Kondakov spoke in the same vein: “Leaving aside the prospects of simple hosting in terms of free offers from Google and Microsoft, I would say that the hosting registrar is a fairly common phenomenon. And this step
Ru-Center looks logical. I suppose that the new service may force the partners of the company for domain registration, which are also hosting providers, to seriously consider continuing the partnership with a competitor. ”
According to Andrei Tsumanov, one of the most effective methods for estimating the “size” of hosting providers is the number of domains on its ns servers: “According to this indicator, a registrar working 10 years on the market has all the chances to be in the top ranks of the hosts' ratings.” At the same time, hosting tariffs from
Ru-Center in “Caravan” are considered “normal, slightly higher than the market average”.
Andrey Tsumanov suggested that the company will be able to quickly gain client mass in its hosting direction. "It is much more difficult for
Ru-Center to keep customers on the hosting, without having many years of experience in this area."
