A month ago, we launched the
Personal Experience section of the CMS Magazine project. In the process of communication on forums and with representatives of sites (developers, content managers, optimizers, etc.) the following main disadvantages were identified:
- not everyone is ready to spend time on detailed answers to "open" questions (and I would like to thank once again those who still do this);
- there are not enough assessments - in order to get a “concise” opinion on CMS, to summarize the experiments;
- Most likely, there are others :-) - ready to discuss them with you.
Another topic repeatedly raised in the discussions of the project was the lack of a CMS selection mechanism in our project.
The absence of a CMS selection mechanism at the moment is explained by the fact that for the correct functioning of a parametric selection, comprehensive information is required on all possible CMS configurations and their plug-ins. Because at the moment we only have information about some of the capabilities of the "top" versions of products (the most expensive for commercial products, and with a full set of modules and plug-ins for open-source), we want to go the other way. Namely: to provide such a tool that will allow you to make a choice of CMS for its “portrait” - the way its users see (website developers, content managers, optimizers).
Now we come back to the first “victim” - the shortcomings of the current implementation of “Personal experience”. We have designed a mechanism for accumulating opinions about CMS, which solves the indicated problems, and forms those “portraits”. Its essence is as follows: the contact person on the site confirms his affiliation to him, describes the site and the currently used version of the CMS, and, most importantly, expresses his opinion about it in the format: evaluation of a number of parameters + explanatory tags support - 4 out of 5, explanation: good documentation, slow response to support calls - those “features” that make up the portrait). You can also enter information about currently unused CMS (which, for example, were considered in the process of choosing a system or a change in CMS). Also, if desired, you can share a detailed personal experience.

We tried to visualize all this using MS Visio:
www.cmsmagazine.ru/different/schemas/Opinions.htm (it is best to look in Internet Explorer, in other browsers there will be no possibility of scaling schemes).
In which direction we would like to start a discussion of this our idea:
- Your overall impression.
- Your options criteria by which you can evaluate the CMS.
- Your options for “details” of the CMS portrait.
Added:
We will summarize here a list of criteria / details.
- Own features (core, plugins)
- Integration with third-party software / services / services
- Forum Integration
- Integration with payment systems
