Blog on Habré

This post is the 500th in our blog on Habré :) We are keeping it for the third year, so we wind it back a little.

2016: 72 publications were published in the blog, of which 58 (80%) were with a positive rating and 14 (20%) with a negative rating.

2017: 170 publications were published in the blog, of which only one was negative (0.58%).

2018: this year we freaked out and published 260 publications, of which 260 were positively rated. Aaaa !!! As far as we know, there are no more active companies on Habré.

But maybe this is our ceiling. No, in theory we could have been more, but for understanding, in 2018 there were 247 working days, which means we did publications a little more often than every working day. If we come to the plan in 2 publications per day, then our blog will start you dreaming :) But in general it is even nice that we kept this pace - it feels like setting a goal to go to the gym every day and never walk.

As for the posts. Sometimes (albeit rarely) we find comments about, say, “ ha, yes, they only do translations there, about web development — it’s not at all clear what side they refer to it ”. Well, yes, translations, so what? Site rules allow it. Doing authoring publications on a hosting every day is rather impossible. Why are there every day - once a week, not every giant company will pull. And it would be much more resource-intensive, and the use of the service "Blog on Habré" is not so effective. Therefore, all of last year we “groped” the interests of the audience, studied the activity of readers and realized that our main target audience was the developers, for whom they decided to prepare interesting materials. We try to choose the freshest and most interesting, without water and advertising: just like a year ago, at the end of each publication we insert our little promo cod with Habraskidka - this is just as inconspicuous as a tag on clothes. Anyway, we like what we do, like to feel useful and we are very grateful for your positive assessment of our activity.

Back to the numbers

Of the 260 publications there was not one with a negative rating or hidden in the drafts. A total of 8,639 votes were cast for them (7,580 pros and 1,059 minuses), the total rating of posts was 6,521, that is, the average rating of a post is +25.

If we talk about business, then, damn it, these are steep numbers - we simply do not know of another such platform, where similar indicators are possible for more than reasonable money.

Our blog's rating: last year we were not only on the 1st place in the rating of companies, but we never broke the 1000 level of the rating. This year it turned out :) Right now we are in the first place, and we are attacked by giants in which there are numerous authors.

The themes of our blog are in many ways similar to the themes of the previous year:

This is one of the most popular topics on Habré, although from the annual report on the "Toaster" you can see that these same topics are most in demand there.

PDFs!

Friends, I almost forgot the most important thing! Often we translate entire cycles of articles, after which we merge all translations into one big document. It is most convenient for us to give it in PDF-format, but if you need some other format - we are ready to provide the source of the document.

At the moment we already have three large PDF documents:

→ PDF version of the Bash scripts manual / 150 pages, 5 MB

→ PDF version of the Node.js guide / 120 pages, 1.8 MB

→ PDF version of the javascript / 103 manual , 2 MB

It is not yet very clear how in 2019 we will jump over the bar with our own hands, but there is a desire. We will be extremely grateful if you tell in the comments what you (do not) like in our blog, what topics it would be interesting to read, and generally any constructive.

If you like what we do ... oh, we almost asked to put a plus on this post, but remembered that this is prohibited by the Habr rules ... then we want to celebrate the new year well and achieve our goals in the new year!
