Yandex determined the interest according to a more complex algorithm than simply by the number of requests. Instead, we measured the value of the wave of requests. The algorithm took into account requests with new formulations, as well as the delta of requests in already known formulations between 2017 and 2018. Google says that "the lists are based on the search queries for which the largest increase in traffic was recorded this year compared to last year."

The first lines of Yandex included requests for the World Cup, Igor Akinfeev, Joseph Kobzon, Huawei Honor 10, the last Avengers, the Major series, the Show Married Buzova, Far Cry 5, the KAZKA composition Crying and meme pro Ugandan Knuckles.



It is curious that in the top 10 TV series there were exclusively domestic TV shows, but among the movies in the top ten only one Russian movie made its way - “Moving Up”. A good half of the top of the new products were taken by Huawei smartphones, although Samsung devices, new “iPhones” and, suddenly, Lada Granta were on the same list. The first seven lines in the TV show rating are occupied by TNT projects.



But the top queries in the Russian-language Google: World Cup, Habib Nurmagomedov, Stephen Hawking, Igor Akinfeev, Ilon Musk, as well as "how to become a blogger." Obviously, the Google audience was more interested in international, global news and personas.
