Once we all wrote in
LiveJournal , commented on posts on
dirty.ru , used keywords when posting on a blog, and in general did many other ordinary things. And then some people
came and spoiled everything , called it “Web 2.0”, which in one and a half years managed to gain wild popularity, become uninteresting for investors, hated snobs and even an abusive word worse than “marketing”.
And modern Web 2.0 resources (see, for example, the
list recently compiled by Set Godin) also featured a distinctive design - “glass” logos with reflection, pleasant colors, a light gradient, and other things that already cause vomiting in some citizens.
But, despite all this, consider a few features of new-fangled design.
')
Feature 1. Pastel colorsJust nice looking colors, which in general have been used before. Especially popular are blue and pink; and their combination (remember at least
flickr.com ).
Feature 2. GlossGlossy effect overlay. Shiny, "glass" surfaces of the main design elements, most often logos. Reception of reflection on a plane imitating glass or water has become especially fashionable.
Feature 3. ShadowsBarely noticeable shadows in the main elements of the site - news feeds, important blocks and so on. Like many years ago, they are usually painted by hand, killing a lot of time. Although ordinary shadows, which can make Photoshop quite acceptable.
Feature 4. Smooth gradientLight pastel tones from light to dark (usually from top to bottom). It does not give either volume or any other effects, just a nice thing.
Feature 5. Roundness of design elementsSmoothed corners of the main tape, navigation or buttons (which, by the way, should be huge, just huge). You can use a rectangular block, and in it - elements with rounded corners, or vice versa, it does not matter.
Feature 6. Sans serif fontSans Serif series fonts: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica. It is believed that the text written by major Verdana is the most convenient to read (not on paper, of course, only on the web). In addition, now begins the fashion for Arial.
But if I was personally asked which font is better to use, I would first shrug, grin, and then notice that independence from fashion was the best old Times New Roman, the truth, any designer needs more “ grow ”(however, no one asks me).
In general, Web 2.0 brought a simple and nice design with a minimal amount of graphics, which almost completely eliminated flash and gif-animation, java-applets and other unnecessary garbage.
