Hello to all! I think you read my
previous article about creating an open source project, which I recommended to newbies at the planning stage and starting work on the project.
More than half a year has passed since the writing of the article and the original idea was reborn into something new. Her main idea was to develop a gem for creating administrative panels, which are already a pretty decent amount, but as a result, having started work on the project, I significantly changed its concept, put together a team and a lot of feedback from different target audiences.
What was done
Over the past 2 months, my priorities have changed dramatically. I completely switched to the project, as the work “on uncle” was gradually exhausting and did not bring any pleasure. Gathered team:
')
- Frontend developer
- 4 Backend developers
- Content manager

Rallies are held every day, we send reports to slack with the help of
geekbot , who has worked on what and plans to perform what tasks during the day. All project tasks are
publicly available . Each task is associated with a specific branch and
commit , thanks to the integration of the
gitlab + pivotal tracker .

For error tracking and quick response use
rollbar + slack .

We completed 4 weekly sprints, not as fast as we had planned, but we are gradually moving towards this.

We are actively working with social networks and publish various activities on the project, which is bearing fruit.

Objective of the project
The service helps site owners to reduce development costs, thanks to a fully dynamic structure and the ability to change the interface without any programming skills.
Our main task is to help businesses increase profits and reduce costs. We consider offers of cooperation and partnership support@getsimpleadmin.com. Using the service is absolutely free, we will also help you to connect your application to the simpleadmin service!
We take in our friendly team of Ruby developers of any level who want to improve their skills and gain experience in a team. I am pleased to pass on all my knowledge and give an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Tips for beginners
To start working with the idea, it is necessary to collect as much feedback as possible from the potential target audience, acquaintances, friends. If the idea hooked you and you didn’t lose interest in it after some time and it is unique in the territory of your region or another, then you should register the task list (trello, pivotal tracker).
Find out what functionality the target audience of the project would like to see in your service (* if it is not targeted, then feedback can be negative). Openly publish reports on what has been done and what functionality you plan to add in the future (blog and social networks).
Never give up and continue to work on personal projects, it does not need a lot of resources, the most important thing is the desire and pleasure from the process!
