Agree to the creation of an international Internet police?

The chief security specialist from F-Secure made a proposal to create an international agency to combat organized cybercrime - a kind of “Internetpol”, an analogue of Interpol.

“The Internet has no boundaries, and cybercriminal groups are almost always international, while local police often do not have enough resources to investigate. Even if the location of the criminal is established, as a result of the investigation it is rarely possible to compile a complete picture of the crime. The victims themselves, the police, the prosecutor's office and the judiciary do not see the full picture and therefore do not know the true damage from the crime, ”said Mikko Hypponen.

At the same time, antivirus companies and companies engaged in the security of computer systems do not have the authority to use force against criminals, and they should not. They protect users' computers and in fact can do nothing directly in relation to the criminals. That is why we “must agree to the creation of an online version of Interpol - the Internet field - which will investigate the very foundations of the criminal food chain,” said Hipponen.
