In the first half of this year, the growth of second-level domains in the RU domain was 24.13% (in the same period of 2005 - 20.51%). As of June 30, 2006, there were 554,519 names in the RU domain. This year in the summer months there was no decrease in the rate of domain registration. We can say that the growth in the number of domains has "stabilized" at around 4% per month, the press service of the
Ru-Center company states.
It continues, though not as significantly as in 2005, to reduce the number of domain owners who are legal entities. By the end of 2005, this figure dropped to 44%, whereas three and a half years ago the share of legal entities reached 60%. In the first half of 2006, the number of domain owners, being legal entities, decreased by another 1%. Thus, the share of domain owners - individuals increased to 57%.
The ratio of the number of Russian residents and foreign owners of domains in the RU zone in the first half of the year remained unchanged: 96% and 4%, respectively, of the total number of registrations. Among non-residents, citizens and organizations of Germany (0.97%), the USA (0.57%) and Ukraine (0.51%) are most active in registering Russian domains. Moreover, if the share of Germany and the United States over the past six months remained almost unchanged, the share of Ukraine during this time increased by almost 0.1%.

The regional redistribution of Russian domains is much more noticeable. The share of Moscow continues to decline: in December 2005, it amounted to 50.41% of the total number of domain names in the RU zone, by the end of June 2006 it dropped to 48.46%.
According to the forecast of
Ru-Center, the threshold of 600 thousand domains will be overcome in September 2006.
Recall that in 2005, the increase in registrations in the national domain of Russia was 46.31%. This is the highest figure in the history of the Russian domain and one of the most impressive among the national domains (ccTLDs). Only the CN domain (China) grows much faster - 150% in 2005 (in 2005, the CN domain ranked first in the number of registrations in Asia).
