Quite a popular portal that recently celebrated its decade, still forms its main page on the principle of "all that is - drag on the table." The congestion of the page with secondary elements makes the use of the portal extremely difficult for an unprepared user - and in fact they are the main "consumers" of Mail.ru.
Let me highlight only the main problem areas of the portal:
Portal home page1. No pass-through authorization on the portal. On the main page, you are invited to enter the mail or register a new mailbox, but nothing is said about that in the future these same details will be used in other services.
2. A huge ad unit that overlaps the authorization window with its size. This is unacceptable.
3. Extremely intricate internal navigation. Across the page there are scattered links to the same services of the portal, which is only confusing.

Other services1. There is no single (through) navigation through the portal and its services.
2. Information elements, successfully incorporated into the design of individual services, are not used by others, which is also confusing, because you have time to get used to them.
3. Advertising blocks of enormous size and monstrously discord with the portal itself.
4. There is no feeling of unity of all services under one roof: differences in navigation solutions, design, choice of advertising formats - all this makes it difficult to perceive services as an integral part of the portal.
5. In general, subjectively, the portal is perceived as lagging behind, vegetated on the side of the Internet and requiring serious intellectual investments.
