According to the latest results of
ROMIR Monitoring , in the II quarter of 2006, Russian Internet users, as before, go online to the Network most often from home (77%) and from work (69%). At the same time, the share of Internet access via GPRS and
Wi-Fi increased from 12% at the end of last year to 19% in the middle of the current year. The researchers make a reservation, however, that the differences in these indicators are within the statistical error and are not significant.
The survey involved 2,641 people over 12 years of age. Young respondents (
12-24 years old) more often said that they are not tied to a specific place of access to the Network - they use it in friends' apartments (21%), computer classes in educational institutions (25%), Internet centers (6%). Users
aged 25-44 are more likely to use office Internet in the sample.
Respondents going to the Network from home were asked about the amount spent on access. The researchers concluded that people spent on the Internet almost as much as in the first quarter of 2006. But compared with the figures for the end of 2005, the share of those who spend more than 1,000 rubles a month has increased from 11% to 18%.
')
Spending on the service from 600 - up to 1000 rubles has become less - from 41% to 32%. However, this category of users is still the most numerous. It consists of active Internet users who go online daily and have an income of more than 10 thousand rubles. Those who go to www no more than several times a week, as a rule, spend less than 600 rubles per month.
In addition, home users were asked which of the home access methods they preferred. It turned out that 40% of respondents in Q2 2006 use an Ethernet / leased line. Almost the number of
dial-up and ADSL users is 27% and 23% respectively. At the same time, 59% of those who go online 1 / several times a week use a switched telephone line. Daily users, as a rule, use a dedicated line (42%) or a telephone line using ADSL technology (25%).
ROMIR Monitoring also found out user preferences in Internet access methods in different regions. The results of the study showed that in the 2nd quarter of the current Muscovites most actively (53%) used a dedicated line to access the Internet. Modem access is still more popular among residents of the Central Federal District - 39%. In St. Petersburg - the same situation: 38% of St. Petersburg people in
Dial-up , 30% and 23% use a dedicated line and broadband access in the city. In general, this distribution of preferences is characteristic of the entire North-Western District.
