The authorities of Moscow reported yesterday about their intention to buy the domain
moscow.ru , but today a new page on the Official Website of Moscow appears at this address. Sections of the portal are still in development, but the impression of what will be the Internet face of the capital, you can make.
Information about the plans of the Moscow government to buy a “nominal” domain appeared at the end of July, after the approval of the “Comprehensive Target Program for Increasing International Authority and Forming a Positive Image of Moscow for
2007-2009 ”. In particular, it was then reported that the city’s portal would be oriented towards a foreign user, and the character to wear would be informational.
As long as moscow.ru has not opened, the official website of the capital is based on
mos.ru. “Foreigners, not knowing this abbreviation, are recruiting the full name of the city, but they don’t find the corresponding site,” complains Georgy Muradov, head of the Moscow International Relations Department (the department oversees the project). According to him, negotiations on buying a domain were conducted with one of the commercial structures, and, in all likelihood, they ended successfully - the site of a small American town is no longer in the domain.

The design of the city portal is entrusted to the
i-Dezign studio A message on the studio’s website indicates that it has been involved in the project since June 1 of the current year.
Returning to the program to improve the image of the capital, we note that it is planned to allocate approximately 720 million rubles for it. The implementation of the program will be entrusted to a specially created PR agency - the Center for International Promotion of Moscow. The agency will be positioning the city as a “megalopolis-pilot who successfully finds advanced solutions to the most difficult urban problems,” according
to Vedomosti, who have a city public relations campaign at their disposal.
460 million of the total amount will be budget allocations, the rest - investments. The main part of the funds - 270 million rubles - will go to the release of positive information materials about Moscow. Publications in foreign media will cost another 114.8 million. It is planned to invest 15 million rubles in research to find out what the image of the capital is among foreigners,
