Wi-Fi amplifier

Quantenna Communications has presented its solution to the problem of uneven distribution and coverage of the Wi-Fi signal due to attenuation from various obstacles - new QHS (Quantenna High Speed) chips. These are small chips with a “gain” signal, which in theory, among other things, should “suppress” interference from foreign devices operating in the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands.

Quantenna is going to release three types of chips. Separately for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, as well as dual-band. They will not cost so much. $ 20 - single-band and $ 40 - combined. The developers claim that their chips, which support 4x4 MIMO and are capable of providing data rates up to 1 Gbit per second, may be of interest to many large companies, such as Dell or Apple, actively developing the range of services available via wireless networks. The company also reports that it has already managed to conclude agreements on the use of their products with several providers.

Ready-made devices will appear on the market by mid-2009.

Perhaps, Quantenna products will be interested in Russian providers. No wonder - in Moscow, this market is developing very quickly. According to the research of analytical company J'son & Partners , 16046 access points operate in the capital today, which is 90% of the total number of access points in Russia.

So market leaders such as Beeline Wi-Fi, MTS (Tascom and Comstar-UTS), the Yandex Wi-Fi project and Stelcom will benefit from the use of “extenders”. Because This will cover a larger area using fewer access points.
