Yandex will launch an open top runet site before the end of the year

Until the end of the year, Yandex will launch an open rating of the popularity of sites. It will include 10,000 of the most popular Runet sites. This was reported by Vedomosti, who got acquainted with the closed presentation of the project. Yandex confirmed the development of the project to us, but refused to disclose the details until the Top Sites were released in the open beta stage.



As Yandex says, some time ago they received a request from advertisers and site owners to create such a service.



“We have a great accumulated expertise and knowledge of the market,” the company says.

Rating will be considered according to Yandex.metric. Platforms that do not use it will be rated according to the Yandex.browser and browser extensions. Whether they will be sufficiently reliable without data from other search engines and services, Yandex has not yet commented.

The main objective of the rating is to show the most complete and representative picture of attendance of Internet projects in order to help them effectively cooperate with advertisers and work on the efficiency of sites.

Similar metrics are also collected by Google Analytics, but do not publish data in the public domain. They are provided only by the Mediascope service, which may be the main competitor of Yandex in this area.



Also, Rambler, Mail.ru and Liveinternet keep their popularity ratings. But as the interlocutors of “Vedomosti” from analytical companies and advertising agencies say, advertisers practically do not use them, because there is no data on Google and “Yandex”.



About a month ago, Yandex removed the thematic citation index that has existed since 1999. He showed how much other sites link to the site. But the company says, “Now links are far from the only indicator of quality that site owners should be guided by.”



Instead of TIS, a new indicator has appeared - X. This is the so-called site quality index.



“By ICS, that is, by the quality of the site, we understand first of all the relevance of the site by the audience. The more users were able to satisfy their needs with the help of the site, the more tasks they solved, the more useful it is. At the same time, not only the number of users is important, but also the degree of their satisfaction, the overall level of trust in the site. ”



How “satisfaction” will be considered and whether it will be taken into account in the “Top of sites” is also unknown. “Now there is a closed beta test. We are very limited in what we can tell, ”Yandex answered our questions.
