Today my wife came running to me in tears - she says that all MP3s have gone bad.
Went to watch. In Windows Media Player, files are played normally, and in Winamp, iTunes and on the iPod, they croak, grunt and behave extremely inappropriately.
Likely on files NOD32. Antivirus identified the
GetCodec worm, which was already
written about on Habré a few months ago. NOD32 rustled, said that everything turned out, but did not cure the files.

I opened Google and began to understand. It turned out that the worm does not pinch the files in WMA, but puts the MP3 stream into the ASF container, and then renames it back.
On the Internet, it was advised to pohimichit with tags, but this, of course, did not help. Clamping a file to MP3 is also not an option. Only half an hour later I realized that the stream had not gone anywhere.
Rescued ffmpeg. With a flick of the wrist we reach the sound and save to a new file:
ffmpeg -i ill.mp3 -vn -acodec copy healthy.mp3
