A course for quite a beginner

It seemed, at first glance, a simple task: to teach an inexperienced user (girl) to certain basics, so that at least this one would not start waving his arms and yelling that “it does not work!” Due to the banal ignorance daily work.

I decided to approach the issue systemically - to make a small thesis program and give a small course for a couple of evenings.
The baseline is as follows:
1. It is necessary that a person understands the basic operations with files, works freely with the browser and understands the general principles of what is happening in front of him on the screen, like the fact that there are directories, files, certain menus, pop-ups, etc.
2. The student is not tied to a specific OS. Experience has shown that it can work with any OS as a user - that is, there is no pronounced predisposition to Windows. ALT Linux is installed on the main home computer (which I mainly use), I also purchased Asus Eee PC for training purposes for the girl. Trained - a student of the Faculty of Humanities.

I would like to know the opinion on possible approaches to solving the problem, I would be grateful for the experience or useful links.
I would like to emphasize that the problem is more of a methodological nature, because WHAT I get to convey to the person, but HOW is the question. Moreover, in order not to overload and at the same time give the necessary compactly.
