About e-book readers

Here in one of the podcasts of Radio-T , dear Messrs. Umputun & Bobuk raised the question - why the hell goat bayan reader of books touch screen? In principle, I agreed with Monsieur Rosnovsky (who spoke about the search and tagging), but I would like to add one very important point.

If you read a lot of literature in a non-native language (especially fiction), then the presence of a dictionary is hard to overestimate. For me, having a dictionary on the reader is the decisive criterion, at the moment I have AlReader + Lingvo 12, in connection with the transition to the iPhone, I will have to think something new. I will not go to the e-book for the very reason that there are no dictionaries yet and it is not expected.

However, the presence of touch-screen gives two important features:

1. Type the word on the onscreen keyboard
2. Even more important - just poke a word on the screen, and get his translation - this is how it works for me now.

How much time it saves, I can’t even tell, and that’s what it seems to me to be one of the potentially key ways to use touch-screen in readers.
