nVidia Legacy Intrepid Ibex Driver

This post is a warning to nVidia video card owners who work with 96.XX.XX drivers. I have a GeForce2 MX / MX 400 card. From impatience, I decided to upgrade to the Intrepid beta, after which I flatly refused to launch X. The XOrg log gave the following errors:
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: Allo cateScreenPrivateIndex
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (loader failed, 7)

After numerous attempts to reinstall the driver using all known methods , I began to actively strain Google's servers in order to search for fellows in misfortune. And I found a sad answer :
The xserver was updated to version 1.5, which broke the ABI compatibility. As a result, drivers 96 and 71 (and fglrx) dont 'work with the xorg and unfortunately the solution of the problem. NVIDIA can solve. (177 and 173 work well)

The only solution to this problem is to wait for new drivers from nVidia. It is unlikely that they will have time to catch up with the new XOrg by the time of the release of the Interpid.
Therefore, the owners of legacy cards will have to choose: use the new ubuntu without the support of 3D acceleration, or not be updated and hope for nVidia and the imminent release of new drivers.

UPD2 : One of the solutions to the problem - downgrade X from version 7.4 to 7.3 ( instruction ). Thanks EvilFaeton .

UPD3 : nVidia managed to post a new driver on October 30th.
